Despite what has been said about renewable technology grants in recent months, the Government has made it clear that we should be encouraging UK households to use solar energy as a way of reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency.

 

Solar thermal water heating is already the most popular of the renewable technologies available. This is because - according to the Energy Saving Trust - it is the most effective, affordable renewable energy technology currently available for domestic dwellings.

 

Installations can vary between new build and existing dwellings. In newly built homes, the solar panels can be integrated into the roof and therefore lie flush with the tiles, whereas with existing dwellings, the panels are fitted on top of the tiles.
